PRESS: MTS seen to merge ticket services into MTS Entertainment

MOSCOW, Jan 10 (PRIME) -- Major Russian mobile operator MTS will merge its ticket services Ponominalu and Ticketland under the management of a new entity, MTS Entertainment, which will be headed by Ponominalu’s co-founder Mikhail Minin, business daily Kommersant reported on Friday citing sources.

The operator registered MTS Entertainment on December 27, 2019, and the entity will run all businesses related to events, a source familiar with the situation told the daily, adding that a new brand, MTS Entertainment, will appear.

The future of brands Ponominalu and Ticketland is yet to be decided, the source said.

An MTS spokesperson said that the firm “was set up to develop projects in entertainment.”

According to one of the sources, MTS Entertainment could also run concert venue MTS Live Arena in Skolkovo, Moscow, which is to open in 2020.

Experts told the daily that centralizing management over the services would enable MTS to engage audiences in its ecosystem and promote MTS Live Arena.
